A week of reflection, solidarity, and remembrance as we mark the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and a deep shared commitment to another way.
Sponsored by Reconsider, a nonprofit media and workshop organization dedicated to fostering innovation, creativity, responsibility, and community to create a more connected and harmonious world.
We will hold space for grief, for reflection and for the desire to choose peace, together.
Beginning Tuesday, August 5 with a Vigil for Humanity, and with it, we enter a collective Fast for Humanity, held through August 9 in solidarity with Satyam Homeland’s Hunger Strike for Peace and communities around the world showing there is another way.
This is an offering to be in community.
A call to pause.
To reflect.
To be present with what we’ve created—and what we are called to create next.
(All Reconsider-hosted gatherings use the same Zoom link.)

We will begin with a brief connection, then at 9:02 PM ET, we will enter into a shared moment of silence, marking the exact time the second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan at 10:02 AM JST on August 9, 1945. It is estimated that 40,000 people were killed instantly in that moment.
Between the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, over 200,000 lives were lost by the end of 1945, with more deaths unfolding in the decades that followed.
We will gently close following the silent vigil.
