About the Film:
A LANDMARK SUPREME COURT CASE PUTS DACA—AND ONE UNDOCUMENTED LAWYER’S FIGHT FOR HIS COMMUNITY—AT THE CENTER OF HISTORY

Luis Cortes Romero, Redwood City local and graduate of San Jose State, isn’t your typical member of the Supreme Court Bar. This DACA recipient and charismatic attorney knows first hand what it is like to suffer the impacts of family division due to deportation.

When the Trump administration abruptly threatens to deport 700,000 fellow Dreamers, Luis fights back, co-piloting an A-Team of lawyers who takes their case all the way to the Supreme Court, making Luis the first undocumented immigrant to argue before the nation’s highest court.

From Here/From There (De Aquí/De Allá) is a timely documentary that underscores the urgent need for compassionate immigration reform and legal representation for families facing the threat of illegal detention and deportation.

About the Fundraiser: The event is also dedicated to raising funds to support the thousands of local community members facing the daily threat of unlawful detention and deportation. All proceeds will be donated to the newly created Presbytery Legal Aid Relief. Access to legal counsel makes the difference between family unity and permanent separation. Click here to learn more.
