Event Type:

Where: Nationwide Economic Blackout Day
Description: One of the powerful actions we can take is to participate in boycotting. This tactic of nonviolent resistance exerts economic pressure to demonstrate widespread public disapproval. Historically, we have witnessed boycotts that led to significant advancements in the civil rights movement in the United States and in the movement to end apartheid in South Africa (to name just a couple).
28 February Consumer Economic Blackout (Thursday, 27 February at Midnight until Friday, 28 February at Midnight) The day of economic resistance is to use PEOPLE POWER and build a movement.
Instructions: Do not make any purchases; do not shop online or in-store. Do not spend money and do not use credit cards or debit cards, Especially avoid Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. Only buy essentials of absolute necessity (food, medicine, emergency supplies). If you must spend, ONLY support small, local businesses.
