The Peninsula/South Bay Interfaith Pod for Immigrant Justice is a network of communication for clergy and people of faith. Our purpose is to inform and invite people of faith to show up for immigrant justice needs in the Mid-Peninsula, San Jose, and South Bay areas as we learn about needs from the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, SURJ Santa Clara, and PACT San Jose (not exclusively). Currently, invitations and calls will be in the form of court accompaniment and may take many forms:
- 2 or 3 clergy to offer prayers
- small groups of community presence in court
- vigils for witness and solidarity
- de-escalation and crowd control at public events
- presence at rallies or protests
- roles which may include options for nonviolent direct action
All engagement includes a commitment to nonviolence. We are also not a rapid response network, but fully support the work of these networks.
We will share opportunities and needs to show up through a monitored Signal group and email list. We hope also to offer occasional Zoom meetings to share ideas and information, as well as trainings on de-escalation, protest safety, and/or nonviolent direct action.
