Where: Corner of El Camino and Embarcadero
Palo Alto, CA
Description: Women's International League for Peace and Freedom hosts this peaceful, silent (with signs speaking for us) on the sidewalk as part of the Global Day of Action for Peace in Ukraine. This is an invitation to a silent vigil organized by the Peninsula/Palo Alto Women’s Intl. League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF) on March 6, the Global Day of Action for peace in Ukraine, part of many national actions on that day. This is a silent vigil: we do no chants, singing, or use amplified speech; we just stand and walk to bear witness against the invasion and war in Ukraine, and against the Russian threats to use nuclear weapons. We stand in solidarity with Ukraine, and seek humanitarian aid for its people. We vigil for a ceasefire with all troops standing down and withdrawing (including NATO’s); and immediate negotiation through the U.N. We stay on the public sidewalk during our hour-long vigil and do not occupy the street.
