Description: Every time we hear of yet another mass shooting at a school, a theater, a shopping mall, or a coffee shop, we fear for our children. The most precious members of our communities now have school campuses with locked gates and shooter drills. Is this really the way we want to live? How can we take steps to better protect both our children and ourselves?

In November 2013 voters in Sunnyvale passed Measure C to expand gun safety laws in the city. A key player in getting the measure on the ballot was then-Sunnyvale Mayor Tony Spitaleri. Former Mayor Spitaleri will share with us how he got a new gun safety law crafted and on the Sunnyvale ballot in November 2013. The law passed very comfortably and so far has withstood all court challenges. Come hear about the journey Sunnyvale has taken, what the city has learned, and how your own city might join in the effort to improve gun safety and curb gun violence locally. There will be time for Q&A after the talk.
