Multifaith Vigil: Defend Civil Rights for Everyone!

Candlelight Vigil in Defense of the Bill of Rights!
PROTEST INDEFINITE MILITARY DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL!
Thursday, December 15, 5-6pm
Lytton Plaza in downtown Palo Alto

Our Bill of Rights was adopted on December 15, 1791, and in 1941 President Franklin Roosevelt declared December 15 "Bill of Rights Day." Recently passed legislation (see article below) threaten those rights - allowing for indefinite military detention of anyone (including U.S. citizens) without trial.

Stand together for the right to trial, separation of powers and presumption of innocence this Thursday evening, 5-6pm at Lytton Plaza. We must speak out loudly and clearly against such action!

JOIN US for songs, prayers and speakers. SPREAD THE WORD!

Bring a candle (only candles that will NOT drip wax on the plaza, please!) if you are able to do so.

Bring cameras to take photos and post online! Bring video cameras to post on youtube!  Bring yourself, family & friends!

Hosted by Multifaith Voices for Peace & Justice, American Muslim Voice, and Peninsula Peace & Justice Center.  To raise awareness about this alarming legislation, events are being sponsored across the nation by organizations including the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, the Muslim Peace Association, Amnesty International, the New York chapter of the ACLU, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and muliple Occupy movements.
