Saturday, Aug. 19, 1-3pm In response to the planned right-wing "March on Google" this Saturday, August 19, Mountain View Voices for Peace and Justice, along with other organizations and individuals, will be holding a rally in Mountain View Civic Center Plaza to demonstrate our area's support for the human rights principles of equality and diversity. The rally will take place from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Mercy and Castro Streets in Mountain View. Click here for more information. * This will be an Open Mic rally in which all participants will be afforded the opportunity to speak, sing, or otherwise express themselves briefly. * We are inviting groups to set up tables to afford rally attendees the opportunity to connect with ongoing efforts to make America better. Statement from Lenny Siegel of MVVPJV: "Though I understand the desire to confront directly hateful right-wing demonstrators at their march/rally a couple of miles away, I personally urge people to resist that impulse. Minuscule groups of racist, sexist, homophobic, and otherwise intolerant demonstrators are able to magnify their message by instigating confrontations at such events. That's their strategy. We can answer them with a large, positive presence downtown."
